Want to Host a Social?
The socials during Kink Week are small gatherings or meetups all over Portland meant to foster connection between attendees, help support local small businesses, and explore new (to you!) parts of Portland. These are like mini munches. They can be kink-focused (ie: a bondage social), but we also encourage people to connect over non-kinky interests as well. This is all about fostering connections. These socials can be hosted by anyone in the community.
Perhaps you are looking to meet…
Kinksters who love live music
Kinksters who play board games
Kinksters who hike, bike, or ride trikes
Kinksters who play mini golf
Krafty Kinksters
Kinky parents
Kinksters who love Strip Clubs (we would love to see a strip club crawl!).
RULES FOR SOCIALS
Must support the venue! Respect other patrons, be discreet when called for, and purchase items from the venue. Tip The Staff!
What to wear? Portland Streetwear unless negotiated otherwise with the location.
Don’t unexpectedly overwhelm an unexpecting venue with kinksters unless they consent. If it’s a small venue, consider using an RSVP system and limit invites.
Hosts must manage communication with attendees. By submitting your request here you agree to be the host of your gathering. You acknowledge that your event may not be added to our official calendar. We don’t have the capacity to post all but we will try! You also acknowledge that as the host will not receive any financial, emotional, or physical help from Kink Week in running your social. But we encourage you to seek volunteers; people love to volunteer at events like this!
HOW TO HOST
Apply before February 28th
We need time to process applications and get as many on the calendar as possible, with advance notice so people can plan their busy week.
Socials will be added to the events calendar as soon as they are confirmed. To limit the back and forth please wait until you have all of your information gathered to apply!
WHAT INFORMATION WILL YOU NEED TO SUBMIT?
Name and contact info of the person running the social.
Name of the social as it will appear on the website.
A 10-word or less description for publication on the website.
A link to a longer event description, where people can get more info. This can be anywhere that works for YOU to manage communication with folks interested in your social. Examples: Fetlife, Partiful, Evite
Your linked invite should include:
Name of social and description of the event.
Start time and duration.
Attendance limit (if there is one). Some people like it intimate. Some people like to be in a crowd. Either is fine.
How will people get the address? If private event when will they get the address? If a private event what area of town is it in, and is it easily accessible via public transportation?
If it’s a public space how will people recognize the group?
TIPS TO MAKE YOUR SOCIAL A SUCCESS
Keep it short and simple. Having your social interest-based means you can meet 10 of your new kinky friends playing mini golf and getting to know each other. The venue can provide the entertainment and snacks. Worried that people won’t talk? Come up with two or three questions about the activity to get the conversation started. Where have you played mini golf before? How competitive are you?
Respect the venue. If you are planning on having a bunch of kinksters knitting merkins at your favorite local coffee shop, make sure the employees have a heads up and do it during hours that make sense for that space.
Pick a time that works for you and your venue. Not everyone will be able to make it - but there will be LOTS of activities for people during Kink Week!
SAFETY FIRST! Pick a public place to meet. If you don’t feel comfortable making the EXACT location public, simply say “A coffee shop in the inner SE” to give a general location.
Any other questions: Please reach out to Natasha Strange.
Please help us limit back and forth by providing all of the info we need in your application below. We are excited to post your events!
